2013 Gift Guide for Breaking Bad Fans

* This post contains affiliate links.

When Breaking Bad first aired several years ago, I didn't think it was the show for me. A chem teacher? Turned drug maker?

C'mon.

Then the years passed. And the fan base grew. And soon the final season began. I found many of my friends were big fans, and as the series finale grew closer, I knew I was missing out on something big. So a few days before the series finale aired, I decided to start at Season 1, episode 1 thanks to Netflix.

And ZOMG.

I was hooked from the first episode and I spent several days hitting myself over the head for not getting into Breaking Bad sooner. I couldn't watch episodes fast enough. I watched the clock until the kiddos were in bed and zipped through as many episodes as time and space would allow (read: two or three). Around the same time my friend, Becky, of Crafty Garden Mama also started the series. So we would chat and agonize and generally taunt whoever was furthest behind.

Riveted. I was riveted to the television, episode after episode. Finally, the 6th season was upon me and Netflix only had the first half. GAH!  So I, of course, bought the final episodes off of amazon.  And the ending was perfect. Absolutely perfect.

So, with Breaking Bad fresh on my mind, I figured there might be a few more committed fans out there who would appreciate true gifts from the heart. Gifts that only Breaking Bad fans could embrace and adore.

Rock Candy Crystal Growing Kit

I know my readers aren't really into meth.  But we are into candy, and rock candy is the perfect less-lethal sugary substitute! So, please. Don't make meth. But if you decide to get into the rock candy business, be sure to send me a barrel.

Heisenberg Fedora

It worked for Walt, right?

Call Bell

For some, it is the best means of communication.

Round Bottom Florence Boiling Flask

Just in case you need to…boil…something…

Or make the coolest snow globe EVER.

Hello Kitty cell phone case

Impress your friends with the cell phone case gifted by a smarmy lawyer named Saul. And I won't tell if you are actually a HK fan...

Roomba

If it was capable enough to clean Jesse's rave-stricken party house, it's good enough for your home.

Rocks and Minerals Collection

Hank became quite enamored with collecting rocks…er…minerals…er…gems….

Either way, you should brush up on your gemology, because Hank Schrader is a man to impress.

Periodic Table of Elements Poster

While it's important to know your elements, it's more important to be able to make your initials with the proper elemental abbreviations.

Door Knocker

So that everyone knows YOU ARE the one who KNOCKS.

Citizen Brick Super Lab Lego Set

Go big or go home, right? If you're going to be the ultimate Breaking Bad fan, you need to be able to build the Fring Laundry Facility Super Lab in your own home. With legos.

2013 Holiday Gift Guide for Dudes

* This post contains affiliate links.

I am one of those people who takes joy in holiday gift shopping. Especially for my husband. I like the challenge of finding that perfect gift: one he'll use, one he's interested in, one he'll enjoy. Some years it is more difficult than others. You see, Hubby isn't into sports, he isn't into video games, and other various things that some guys are into. But thanks to his direction to peruse sites like Huckberry and Art of Manliness , I have found inspiration coming more easily this year.

So I decided to share the wealth with you. Because I'm sure I'm not the only person still gathering last minute gift details. Here are some ideas for big gifts as well as cute stocking stuffers. All are Hubby Approved.I'd like to think of this as the holiday extended version of my Gift for Dudes from Father's Day (so you may see some overlap). And I tried to link to things that you could order and have arrive before Christmas (with Mantry being the one exception)!

Mantry

We're huge fans of Mantry in our house. You can read about my review here. If there is a dude in your life who enjoys food - or would consider himself a "foodie," this monthly subscription box is the way to go. Orders can be made in 1 month, 3 month or 6 month options. In each box, you'll get 5-7 handpicked artisan American food items. Anything from bacon to beer jelly!  They are currently sold out of the holiday Mantry box, but you can order a gift card!

Whiskey Ball

In my Father's Day gift guide, I recommendedWhiskey Stones . But these Whiskey Ball ice cube molds are the bees knees, according to Hubby. They would make Don Draper proud.

Death Star Ice Sphere Mold

If Whiskey Balls are too plain, then perhaps the Death Star Ice Sphere Mold are the better way to go. Especially if you have a Dude in your life that likes to pretend to fight off enemies with a light saber and birthday cards involve encouragement like, "May the force be with you."

(I literally asked Hubby about this last night. I was all, "Seriously? Guys like this stuff?" His response was an intense look of trying to figure out if I was joking or not. Then he said, "Of course.")

Woolrich Flannel Shirt

Hubby stands by the long-time quality of Woolrich. He considers them trustworthy, as they've been in business for over 180 years. Flannel plaid shirts are trending again, and Woolrich Flannel Shirts are the quality kind of clothing that will last a long time. Like, if it has a Woolrich tag, it's a welcome gift to Hubs.

B Lit Flashlight Holder

A friend of mine actually invented this nifty clip. This is an apparatus that allows one to clip a flashlight to just about anything for hands-free lighting: A hat, a window, a stroller. Now you can BBQ at night without having to wrassle the spatula and the flashlight!  The B Lit makes a great stocking stuffer.

Moleskine Notebook

As an English Teacher, Hubby is fond of writing. Perhaps he draws inspiration from Hemmingway or Fitzgerald, but when has the chance, he likes writing in a notebook instead of a computer. For several years running, Hubby has requested a Moleskine Notebook Not only do they look great, but they are a handy notebook that fits easily into a small bag for easy carrying.

I have no idea. But Hubby literally asked for a Slingshot last year. ANd received it. From his parents. Channeling Denis the Menace, maybe?

Gift Guide for New Girl Fans

* This post contains affiliate links.

You have figured out what to get your Mom, you've almost finished shopping for your brother, and the list is still looming for the kids. But what, pray tell, do you get a committed New Girl Fan?

Don't worry, friends.

I've got you covered.

 Jess Day's Retro Eyeglass Frames

Jess Day has a style all unto herself, but I love her thick black spectacles. If you (or a New Girl fan you love) want to rock the look, grab a pair (or three).

Soundtrack from Wicked

This is especially useful on long random road trips to Mexico. It'll make you so Popular. Original broadway cast only (Idina and Kristin. ::swoon::)

Batman Mask

Everyone needs a Keaton in their life. Especially if it keeps them from sitting at home wiping their tears with deli meat.

Handmade Douchebag Jar

If someone you love needs extra motivation to not make d-bag remarks, craft up a Douchbag Jar for them out of a simple Mason Jar as a friendly reminder: "JAR!"

Even better? If you have 12 d-bag friends, you can get 12 jars for under $10.

Take-Out Menu Binder

Whether you love take out or the Chinese Restaurant in your neighborhood has waged a Menu War, bedazzle a simple black binder for a fun way to organize all of your menus.

Irish Walking Cape

If only we could be as cool as Schmidt. Be sure to hang this right next to your bath towel. And, yes, it's a real thing.

True American Game

All it takes is a (few) case(s) of beer, a bottle of liquor, the official rules (also found from other various sources) and the rearrangement (and possible demolition) of your living room.

Really, it's the gift that keeps on giving.
