About Me

Hi.

::waving::

I'm Steph.

And I write on this here blog.

I started blogging in January 2009 when my oldest daughter (Little Chica) was 6 months old.  Becoming a mother was a huge (get punched in the face oh that tickles but not really type of) experience for me.  I was suddenly responsible for this little life, while simultaneously saying good-bye to my life as a young working woman.  One morning I woke up and realized that I, as well as many other Moms today, was among the ranks of the new and improved Donna Reed:

Mommy.
Edgy.
Domestic.
 Sexy.
Technologically plugged in.

I think it's important to be real and to have community.  When I became a Mom, I needed a platform to generate both of those things. So I decided to start this blog as a place to share my fumbling experiences at parenthood, laughable attempts at domestic goddessy, random thoughts and to catalog my recipes.

Like I said. Domestic.

It's kind of all been downhill from there.

I'm now the mother to not one, but two, beautiful chicklets:  Little Chica (almost 4 years old) and Bitty Bug (15 months old).  I am married to the most gorgeous blued-eyed English-teaching frisbee-throwing meat-grilling park-hiking beer-connoiseur of a man you've ever (or never) laid eyes on.  He is referred to on this blog as Hubby

What can I say? I'm blessed.

Some fun facts about me:

1. When I was in second grade I wrote a fan letter to Richard Dean Anderson. He sent me back a signed postcard with his picture on the front.  MacGyver fans, eat your heart out.

2. I was a huge dork growing up, some of which can be evidenced in this post.  More posts on the subject to come.

3.  I was a social worker in my pre-kids life.  I worked with teenagers on probation. I loved it and hated it and sometimes I miss it.

4.  I dislike talking on the phone. It makes me uncomfortable, sweaty and nervous.

5. Kevin Spacey is one of my favorite actors. The man is brilliant.

6. I love the 90's.  LOVE.  Especially 90's music and television.  And I am not apologetic about it.

7. I not-so-secretly think my husband is one of the greatest people to ever grace this earth.

8. For as much as they put me through the ringer, I love my daughters more than life itself.

9. I have some awesome friends, who are mentioned from time to time on this blog.

10. My family is dysfunctional and fabulous.

I'm still currently a SAHM (that's Stay-at-Home Mom lingo for "stay at home mom") in Chester County, PA (about 40 minutes outside of Philly).  I'm still fumbling through these Adventures in Parenthood.  I'm on a mission to be healthy and lead a healthy lifestyle, but ice cream will always be my kryptonite. Most days I am a glorious disaster, but I'm a work in progress.

I'd love for you to join me on this journey we call life.  Because being a screw-up around other people is much more funny than screwing up alone.

Cheers,
