Alex's Lemonade Stand Million Mile Run #MotivationMonday

Fact: September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

Are you aware?

Are you aware the in the U.S., childhood caner is the leading cause of death by disease in children under the age of 15?  Are you aware that of 250 children die, worldwide, from cancer each day?

We need to be aware.

Because for every child that is taken by this disease, there is a large community of family and friends who mourn this loss. And many of us become part of these circles as cancer wages war on someone we love.

To help raise awareness, I am part of a group of bloggers who will be participating as a team in this year's Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation Million Mile Run.  We are walking and running to gain miles (and donations) towards the fight against cancer. I've shared about my running. And while it has done me some good, I now want my running to do the world some good. I want my miles to mean something bigger than myself.

This month, I'm making my miles count.

And guess what?

You can too.

You can head over to Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation to find out how you can be involved. You can form a team or join a team! Because you don't have to run. ALSF's website gives tons of ideas on how to reach your goal. Pick a few mommy friends to do stroller walks a few times a week. Grab some co-workers during lunch. Take a family walk every night after dinner. Track your miles on MapMyRun or log them manually.

If you can't commit to walking, that's okay too. You can support by making a donation.  You don't have to run, by the way. If walk even a mile a day for the rest of the month, that's 14 miles that you will contribute toward the million we are working towards.

Friends?

Together let's kick cancer's butt!
