#LISTERINE 21 Day Challenge: Part II

A few weeks ago I shared how I was about to embark on the Listerine 21 Day Challenge. Why 21 days? Well, friends, it takes 21 days to create a habit. Listerine is challenging all tooth-brushers out there (yep, that means YOU) to get into the habit of:

Brushing

Flossing

Rinsing with LISTERINE® ULTRACLEAN®

Twice. A. Day.

Now here's the thing. I learned about oral hygiene all the way back in preschool. I still remember the day the dentist came in and taught us why it is so important to keep your teeth healthy and clean (spoiler alert: SO YOU CAN KEEP THEM). Now that I'm a Momma, I need to instill the same oral hygiene values into my girls. Because they've got some beautiful teeth, and it's my intention that they stay that way!

LISTERINE® was kind enough to send along a box of supplies so we were ready and armed to Battle. Some of these items included LISTERINE® mouthwash, LISTERINE® toothpaste, LISTERINE®  smart rinse anticavity fluoride rinse (which Chica was thrilled about, as they were emblazoned with both Barbie and characters from Phineas and Ferb), Reach flossers, and more. We set up shop in the bathroom so we were ready for the next 21 days.

Remember those Listerine commercials from years ago, where they showed people rinsing with LISTERINE® mouthwash for 30 seconds? Have you ever tried it? It can be rough, because that LISTERINE®? It works. You can feel the burn. Literally. It's a good burn, but not for the faint of heart. And recommended twice a day, to boot. Waaaaay back, in the beginning of my challenge, I couldn't last very long. I was lucky to rinse for 10 seconds before wimping out:

I can proudly say I've made progress over the past 3 weeks! Go me!

Since we made the challenge a family effort, we all feel like we benefitted. I was always good about getting the girls to brush their teeth at night, but not always great about it in the morning. The girls have been reminding me that we have to brush teeth before we go! Here are a few of their thoughts on why it's important to brush your teeth:

Hubby noted how impressed he was with the LISTERINE® toothpaste. We've honestly never tried it before. But just as you can feel the LISTERINE® mouthwash working, so you can also with the toothpaste. I agree with Hubby: there is an extra feeling of clean after using the toothpaste.

One thing I need to work on now that the challenge is over: Flossing. I've never been great at flossing. And by "never been great at" I mean "never do it." Flossing tends to make my gums bleed (which I know it probably because I don't floss) and I honestly just don't think about it. I'm excited to try the Reach Flossers.  I think they'll be a great help in getting me to floss more. Not having to stick my entire fist into my mouth to reach the molars will be oral care bliss.

I am honestly really glad I was asked to take part in this challenge, as it really helped me realize how much I wasn't focusing on oral care. As an adult woman, that is important. As a mom? It's even more so.

And?

My breath has improved probably 110%.

Double. Score.

Are you ready to take your oral care to the next level?

Head over to the LISTERINE Facebook page and make a pledge to brush, floss and rinse with LISTERINE® ULTRACLEAN® twice a day. Your family will thank you!
