It is no secret that I am a HUGE fan of The Food Network. I love their shows, I love their recipes, and I particularly love The Food Network Magazine. Every month, this periodical comes out chock full of bright photographs, fun ideas and irresistible recipes.
So when I was asked to check out the new Food Network Magazine cookbook (and giveaway some copies to my lovely readers), how could I say no? It arrived last week, and this 400+ page book did NOT disappoint.
If you are looking for a cookbook to direct you in how to make gourmet chicken entrees 15 different ways, this is not the book for you. 1,000 Easy Recipes is geared toward the fun, adventurous and busy cook, excited to try unconventional meals. While the book may not explain how to season chicken or roast beef tips, it does engage with a multitude of different salads, hotdogs, burgers, pancakes/waffles, snacks, beverages and desserts.
Here is the perfect example of one of the cookbook's fantabulous recipes:
Pulse 1 chopped portobello mushroom, 1 tablespoon chopped shallot and 3 tablespoons fresh parsley in a food processor. Mix with 11⁄4 pounds ground turkey, 2 tablespoons olive oil, 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, and salt and pepper. Form into four 1-inch-thick patties and chill. Grill on hot oiled grates over medium heat, 4 to 5 minutes. Give a quarter turn and cook 4 to 5 more minutes. Flip and cook 6 to 7 more minutes, topping with manchego during the last 3 minutes (cover to melt). Serve on toasted English muffins with Dijon mustard and avocado.
