Celebrate Shelter Pets Day - December 2

For many, pets are an essential part of the family unit. They are the wagging tails that greet us when we arrive home, the wet kisses we receive after a long walk, and the warm cozy bundle of fur sleeping next to us on cold winter nights

Did you know: Each year approximately 3-4 million pets are adopted, but 2.7 million still lose their lives each year for lack of a home? Isn't that tragic? In America, of all the pets in homes, only 29% were adopted from a shelter or rescue.

Many Americas will welcome a furry family member into their home next year (17 million, to be exact!). Why not consider giving the gift of a HOME to some pets in need? The Shelter Pet Project is a team effort between The Humane Society of the United States, Maddie’s Fund® and the Ad Council. They hope to spread the word to prospective pet owners to adopt shelter and rescue pets.
